Suryaji Kakde Suryaji Kakde, also known as Suryaji Shivdev Kakde, was one of the most prominent generals of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire in India. Suryaji Kakde was born in a small village in Maharashtra in the early 17th century. He came from a warrior family that had been loyal to the Bhosale clan for generations. As a young boy, Suryaji Kakde was trained in the art of warfare and martial arts by his father. In the early 1640s, when Shivaji Maharaj was just a teenager, he began to establish his own army and gather followers in the rugged terrain of the Sahyadri Mountains.
